Black Sun welcomes publication
of the finalised UK SRS S1 & S2

By Felix Enslin

This week the UK Government has published the finalised versions of the UK Sustainability Reporting Standards S1 and S2 (collectively the UK SRS), closely based on the International Sustainability Standard Board’s standards IFRS S1 and S2 and aimed at providing comparable and decision-useful sustainability-related information for investors.

UK SRS S1 focuses on general sustainability-related risks and opportunities and UK SRS S2 sets out requirements on risks and opportunities specifically related to climate

While the final UK SRSs provide clarity for companies wishing to adopt the standards voluntarily, a consultation by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) remains open until 20 March 2026 which is examining whether to introduce mandatory UK SRS reporting for some entities, potentially on a comply or explain basis.

As part of its consultation, the FCA will also provide confirmation around a proposed ‘climate first’ relief which would permit companies to provide climate-related disclosures only for an initial period. Those already reporting against TCFD should therefore be strongly placed but care will be needed to ensure a compliant transition from TCFD to UK SRS disclosures.

At Black Sun, our extensive experience in both corporate and sustainability reporting means we are well placed to advise on how to prepare for the adoption of the UK SRSs. If you would be interested in speaking to one of our reporting specialists about what the new requirements mean for climate and broader sustainability disclosures or how to transition smoothly from TCFD please get in touch

We shall look forward with interest to the outcome of the FCA consultation and to working with clients to support their evolving reporting needs.
