The article considers the role and relevance of the ‘Capital Markets Day’ in a post-MiFID II world, and provides advice to those looking to optimise its potential.

A capital markets day is more relevant than ever post MiFID II. Historically the focus for many corporate communication and IR teams has been to focus on the three primary delivery vehicles: scripts, slides, and the obligatory RNS statement. While getting these right is crucial we can’t help but wonder why companies aren’t making more of the natural pull and push this type of special event creates by introducing an easily implementable and measurable communications plan that builds excitement and insight pre event – raising the quality and breadth of attendees – and leverages content and key messages post event, making the lives of IR and corporate communications easier and increasing a CMD’s overall return on investment.
