Black Sun's Sallie Pilot launches IR Society Best Practice Awards

The IR Society today launched its 2016 Best Practice Awards with a webinar hosted by John Gollifer, IR Society General Manager, and Sallie Pilot, Black Sun Director of Research and Strategy, and Chair of the Society’s Best Practice Committee.

Now in their 16th year, the Awards recognise those companies that have demonstrated their strong understanding of, and proactive efforts to promote clear and consistent investor communications.

The self-entry Awards’ categories comprise six areas open to FTSE 100, FTSE 250, Small Cap & AIM, and international companies, that will encourage and reward best practice in investor communications:

  • Best Annual Report
  • Most effective integration of sustainability reporting into communications
  • Best digital reporting
  • Best use of digital communications
  • Best overall communication of company investment proposition, and
  • Best IPO IR Communications (added new this year)

The voted Awards’ categories comprise:

  • Best newcomer to IR (individual)
  • Best IRO (individual), and
  • Best overall company IR (company)

Sallie Pilot commented, ‘The IR Society Awards continue to champion best practice investor relations in the UK, Europe and beyond. To create truly meaningful Awards, which recognize leaders in investor communications, we need to keep responding to the market. This year, the Best Practice Committee has re-worked the Awards to create a simpler and clearer entry process, and to reflect the changing market environment and investor needs’.

Black Sun was well represented at the 2015 Best Practice Awards with five clients nominated across seven categories and three wins. Tullow Oil, Taylor Wimpey, Coca-Cola Hellenic all made the shortlist; while Uralkali took home the award for ‘The Best Annual Report – International’, and Go-Ahead won both ‘The Best use of Digital Communications – FTSE 250’ and ‘The Best Overall Communication of a Company Investment Proposition – FTSE 250’

Sallie and the judges are looking forward to receiving this year’s entries before the closing date of 30th June 2016.
