Two Black Sun clients win at Corporate and Financial Awards

Tullow Oil’s excellence in communication with the City and its influencers was heralded at last night’s Corporate and Financial Awards with the company winning the gold award in the category of ‘Best Printed Report’. Global giant, BAE Systems was also celebrating after taking home the silver award in the same category.

The Communicate magazine's Corporate & Financial Awards has created an industry-wide benchmark, as well as an opportunity to give teams the recognition they deserve. In a ceremony at The Light in London, hosted by Simon Jack, Black Sun was also presented with two awards in recognition for our work alongside our clients on producing the two award winning projects.

David Christopherson, CEO of Black Sun said: “It is a great honor to be recognised for our work with our clients Tullow Oil and BAE Systems and we are delighted that both teams have once again been awarded for their hard work and dedication to delivering leading best practice corporate reporting programmes."

Tullow Oil’s 2010 report offers a concise and integrated picture of the strategy, performance, risk and governance whilst demonstrating their vision to be the leading global independent exploration and production company. The report has already been widely acclaimed over the past year also winning ‘Best communication of governance and risk in the annual report’ at the 2011 Investor Relations Society Best Practice Awards.

BAE Systems’ 2010 report emphasizes their position as one of the world’s largest and most geographically diverse defense and security companies. Their report has also received strong recognition in industry circles, winning ‘Best board disclosure for a FTSE 100’ at the 2011 ICSA Hermes Transparency in Governance Awards. Earlier this year the report also won an award for 'Best Strategic Governance' at the independently nominated Strategic Planning Society Awards.

Judged by a panel of experienced in-house practitioners, communication agency directors, analysts and business and financial journalists, the Corporate and Financial Awards were established by Communicate magazine, the UK’s leading magazine for corporate communications and stakeholder relations. The event marks a benchmark of excellence in all aspects of City communication -to the buyside, the analysts, business & financial journalists, and the wider stakeholder communities that influence them.

Andrew Thomas, publisher of Communicate magazine said: “This is the inaugural year of the Corporate and Financial Awards. We felt it important, considering the convergence in communications that has happened in recent years, to rectify the lack of any effective benchmarking of communications to the city and those who influence it. We have been delighted with the calibre of response and believe the awards can only get bigger. We would like to say congratulations to all those who have been shortlisted and successful in the first year.”
