Rio Tinto & NLMK win silver at Digital Impact Awards

Black Sun is proud that Rio Tinto & NLMK have been recognised for their excellence in digital stakeholder communication at last night’s Digital Impact Awards. Both clients scooped the Silver award for ‘Best use of Digital’ in their respective sectors –Rio Tinto for its ground breaking online reporting centre in the extractive sector and NLMK for their unique online Annual Report in the manufacturing and engineering sector.

The Digital Impact Awards was first established by Communicate magazine and over the past few years has created an industry-wide benchmark for corporate communications and stakeholder relations, as well as an opportunity to give teams the recognition they deserve.

The entries were all judged by a panel of experienced in-house practitioners, Digital Communication Directors, and Online Marketing Managers in order to celebrate and benchmark best practice in digital stakeholder relations. We were delighted this year that Black Sun's very own Dominic Walters, Director of Digital, was invited to be part of the judging panel.

Dominic commented: “Being part of the judging panel for the first time this year gave me a fantastic opportunity to gain a further insight into some of the most exciting digital communication projects & trends from 2012. In my opinion, Rio Tinto’s reporting centre and NLMK’s online Annual Report, both reflect some of the more innovative digital strategies that many companies are now taking to bring their reports to life through the online medium. I am delighted that their efforts have been recognised at such an acclaimed event."

Andrew Thomas, publisher of Communicate magazine said: “This year’s digital impact awards saw a 54% increase in entries and all entries were of an incredibly high standard. So for Rio Tinto & NLMK to have won Silver for ‘Best use of Digital’ means they showed real creative flair, strategic insight and strong execution skills. Communicate magazine congratulates both companies and Black Sun for their achievements along with all the winners at this year's digital impact awards."
