Five Black Sun clients shortlisted for the 2010 ICSA Hermes Transparency in Governance Awards

Amlin, BAE Systems, Hays, Rio Tinto and Taylor Wimpey have all made the shortlist for a brilliant total of 13 categories at this year’s prestigious industry awards.

The Awards reward high standards of disclosure in a company’s report and accounts, with the aim of encouraging improvements both in the disclosure process and in governance performance itself. They have the backing of the Government, the Financial Reporting Council (FRC), the Association of British Insurers (ABI), the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and the Financial Times.

For companies within the FTSE 100, BAE Systems has been shortlisted for four categories to include: Best annual report; Best risk management disclosure; Best board disclosure and Best strategy disclosure; and Rio Tinto has been shortlisted for: Best sustainability and stakeholder disclosure.

For companies within the FTSE 250, Amlin has been shortlisted for four categories to include: Best annual report; Best audit disclosure; Best risk management disclosure and Best strategy disclosure. Taylor Wimpey has also been shortlisted for four categories to include: Best annual report; Best risk management disclosure; Best strategy disclosure and Best strategy disclosure; and Hays has been shortlisted for: Best remuneration disclosure.

The ICSA Hermes Transparency in Governance Awards are not open for nomination and the review process is entirely independent, ensuring winners are recognised for their disclosure alone. ICSA and Hermes critically review the annual reports of all FTSE 100 and FTSE 250 companies and shortlist only those which meet the highest standards of disclosure.

The 2010 Awards will be presented at a gala Awards Ceremony at The Brewery, London on 17 November 2010, alongside the ICSA Company Secretary Awards. Last year’s ceremony was attended by Company Secretaries from some of the UK’s top companies as well as business leaders from across the spectrum, government representatives, and figures from some of the UK’s top business organisations.
