Black Sun is delighted to round off a successful 2013 with wins for Shaftesbury Plc and Laing O'Rourke at the 13th Annual iNOVA Awards, which honour excellence in corporate websites and promote achievement in creative web design, originality of content, and functional performance. Competition this year was stiff with entries received from 14 countries globally.

Shaftesbury not only won the Grand Award for Best Corporate website, but also claimed the top accolade, the ‘Best in Show’ award. The goal at the outset of this project was to create a corporate website which did not look like a corporate website. The result is a site that enables Shaftesbury to effectively communicate core corporate and investor information throughout the year whilst bringing the passion and personality of the business to life through an innovative design. The international panel of judges recognized this, with the ‘inventive and intriguing site’ receiving the greatest number of perfect ‘10’ scores.

Laing O’Rourke was also among the successful entries winning the Grand Award in the category for the Best Online Annual Report. The overarching ambition for Laing O’Rourke was to produce best in class reporting collateral which goes beyond that required of a private company and seeks to match and surpass the standards and requirements of its publicly listed peers. From a digital perspective the key objective was to deliver an online Annual Review with a complimentary creative approach to the recently updated corporate website whilst maintaining an innovative interface with an engaging user experience across multiple platforms, including mobile technologies.
